Fire Risk Specialists is led by Awais, MSc — an IFSM-registered fire risk assessor listed on the National Fire Risk Assessor Register under registration ID 1576. He has spent over a decade assessing London building stock at both ends of the scale: single converted flats above shop units, and purpose-built blocks running to 200 units with full stay-put evacuation strategies. Named work includes Audi at Wilderness Festival, Car Giant and GB News, alongside long-running instructions from freeholders, managing agents and HMO licence holders across the capital.

The Fire Safety Order requires the assessment to be "suitable and sufficient" and made by a competent person. Competence is not self-declared. Our assessors are registered with the Institution of Fire Safety Managers and listed on the National Fire Risk Assessor Register, which requires proven training, insurance, submitted case studies and annual CPD that is independently audited. Many assessors and companies are not on that register — and if yours is not, the liability for an inadequate assessment still sits with you as the responsible person.

Every assessment follows the British Standards PAS 79 methodology, so findings are structured, risk-rated and defensible if they are ever tested by an enforcement officer, an insurer or a court. The assessor walks the building rather than the paperwork: escape routes, compartmentation, fire doors and flat entrance doors, detection and alarm coverage, emergency lighting, signage, firefighting equipment, ignition sources, storage and the management arrangements that hold it all together. You receive a written report with a prioritised action plan, usually within 24 hours, and we stay reachable afterwards to explain any finding you need to act on.
